After four days of bail hearings in Hong Kong’s biggest crackdown to date under a Beijing-imposed national security law, all 47 opposition politicians and activists were ordered to remain in custody on March 4, 2021. Fifteen of the defendants who face subversion charges were granted bail, but were then told they will continue to be jailed after prosecutors lodged an appeal against the court’s decision.
