Europe’s largest refugee camp on the island of Lesbos in Greece was gutted by a huge fire early on September 9, 2020, leaving over 12,000 refugees and asylum seekers homeless. There are reports that the blaze was started by migrants revolting against coronavirus isolation rules. Other fires broke out later the same day in an area of the camp that had been unscathed by the earlier blaze.
