Emergency crews have issued a warning for a rare and hazardous weather event in New South Wales.
A polar outbreak this weekend will bring snow down to lower topographical regions of the state not seen in 15 years.
Snowfall could descend as low as 500 metres above sea level from the Victorian border up through the Ranges and into Orange and Katoomba.
Drivers have cautioned to avoid roads where possible with conditions not expected to ease until Monday.
