Queensland authorities face a public outcry over a decision to provide resort-style quarantine concessions to award-winning actor Tom Hanks while a terminally ill father was unable to meet with all four of his children.
Award-winning actor Tom Hanks returned to Australia to continue filming a movie and was offered a resort-style isolation option instead of the usual 14-day stay at a Queensland hotel quarantine facility.
The offer was met with heavy criticism after a terminally ill 39-year-old Queensland father was only allowed to have one of his four children who lived in NSW to cross the border to say their final goodbye.
Queensland Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington said the family would have had more luck if they were part of the AFL or the crew of a superyacht.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and NSW Police Minister David Elliott criticised Queensland’s border closures as unnecessary.
