Sky News host Chris Kenny says he “hates this focus on identity politics,” but given none of Joe Biden’s potential running mates stand out, one wild card might well be Michelle Obama.
The presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden, is expected to announce his running mate within the next week.
Previously declaring it will be a woman, many believe it will be a woman of colour.
Mr Kenny said Ms Obama – the former First Lady – is an accomplished woman who is used to dealing with issues in the public eye, while also possessing ample experience about how the White House operates.
“Well a group of Democrat fund raisers and activists, who call themselves the committee to draft michelle Obama have written an open letter begging Joe Biden to invite her to be his running mate,” he said.
“They reckon she would guarantee an election victory for the Democrats. And I think they are right.
“She would outshine Biden, that’s for sure.”
