A Sydney mayor says his council was not notified about a special exemption given to a local mosque for up to 400 worshippers to attend a service for Eid.
The New South Wales government granted the permit for a service last Friday, allowing more than the current limit of 100 people into the Auburn Gallipoli Mosque in Western Sydney.
Cumberland Mayor Steve Christou told Sky News he wasn’t told, and that’s not good enough.
A spokesperson for New South Wales Health said local councils were not usually involved in health order exemptions but the police and local health district were informed.
