Liberal MP Dr Katie Allen says she “cannot explain how important” Sarah and Lachlan Murdoch’s funding for medical research is.
Sarah and Lachlan Murdoch will donate $5 million to the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute to fund more medical research.
The donation will attract some of the world’s leading researchers in stem cell technology and genomic medicine.
“When you have young scientists who are full of energy, enthusiasm and ideas, to be be able to fund them to execute these ideas and make a difference on Children’s health, is quite extraordinary,” she said.
“To be given the endorsement that you have what it takes to save lives, is the most amazing feeling.
“I cannot explain how important this sort of funding is.”
