Meanwhile, fire officials in B.C. say the immediate danger posed by the Christie Mountain wildfire, near Penticton, is over. The blaze forced thousands of people to flee their homes, and many residents are still on high alert. Aaron McCarthur reports.

Relentless heat and repeated dry lightning strikes sparked fires across California, stretching firefighters thin. As Jennifer Johnson reports, now fire crews from 10 other states, as well as Canada and Australia, are preparing to help.

Turning to the coronavirus pandemic, Canada is facing criticism for funding a COVID-19 vaccine candidate developed by the Chinese company CanSino. Although it was approved for human trials in Canada, it still hasn’t arrived more than three months after it was given the green light. As Redmond Shannon explains, there are concerns that rocky relations between the two countries may be to blame.

And with over 600 movie credits to his name, 91-year-old James Hong still doesn’t have a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. But as Mike Drolet explains, there’s a campaign underway to change that.
