The opposition candidate in Belarus’s presidential election has fled to neighboring Lithuania, according to the foreign minister there. Svetlana Tikhanovskaya had admitted she felt scared after President Alexander Lukashenko claimed a landslide victory. Germany has called on the European Union to consider imposing sanctions on Belarus. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the vote was not free and fair. But in Moscow, President Putin congratulated Lukashenko on his win. In the Belarussian capital Minsk, protesters have been out on the streets again.
