People who troll children and adults online will risk six figure fines under world first Australian cyber safety laws.
The government released draft laws to protect people in the country from experiencing cyber abuse, with individuals potentially being fined up to $111,000.
UNSW’s Nigel Phair told Sky News the legislation is “really important” and it is great Australia is leading the world.
“Just like we led the world with the legislation against the digital platforms and the way they share and transmit other information,” he said.
“Essentially it increases the response time, and also brings in a scheme which is against trolling.”
