Mexico’s Congress has passed a national security law that restricts the powers of US Drug Enforcement Administration agents operating in the country, requiring them to share information with their Mexican counterparts.
The US says it is a major setback in the fight against international organised crime networks.
The law also follows the detention of Mexico’s former defence secretary on drug charges in the US.
