Former US president Donald Trump has used his first major speech since leaving office to take aim at Republicans who have spoken out against him.

Mr Trump spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando, Florida, hinting at a possible run for the presidency in 2024.

He skipped the opportunity to make a significant attack on President Joe Biden, instead focussing especially on Republicans who had voted in favour of his impeachment.

“The Democrats don’t have grandstanders like Mitt Romney, Ben Sasse, Richard Burr, Bill Cassidy, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Pat Toomey,” Mr Trump said.
