The Saudi crown prince is accused of dispatching a group of hitmen to kill a former top Saudi intelligence official – Saad al-Jabari – who is in exile in Canada.
The allegation was made in a lawsuit filed by al-Jabari in Washington, DC.
The hitmen were allegedly sent by Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) just days after journalist Jamal Khashoggi was murdered inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in October 2018.
They failed to get past the borders at Toronto’s airport, but the lawsuit alleges al-Jabari’s life remains in “dire peril”.
Al-Jabari is seeking damages from MBS for allegedly orchestrating an “attempted extrajudicial killing” and for violating international law.
