Supporters of Myanmar’s military, some armed with knives, clubs and catapults, attacked opponents of the recent army coup in the city of Yangon on February 25, 2021. The violence intensified the ongoing turmoil in the southeast Asian country, which has seen daily protests and strikes for about three weeks since the military seized power and detained elected civilian government leader Aung San Suu Kyi on February 1.
