The NSW government has rejected a request by ‘Invasion Day’ rally organisers for an exemption from COVID-19 gathering limits.

Organisers sought approval for 3,000 people to attend but protests are currently capped at 500.

Authorities are pleading with demonstrators to follow the rules with the penalty for breaching public health orders up to six months’ jail or fines of up to $11,000.
