India begins vaccinating 1.3 billion people against COVID-19

India has begun the task of vaccinating 1.3 billion people against COVID-19, with 30 million frontline workers first in line to receive the jab.

Health officials are hoping 300 million people will be vaccinated by August.

Coronavirus has claimed the lives of more than 152,000 people in India so far and with over 10.5 million cases, the country comes in second after the United States.
