French MPs vote on controversial new security law

France’s controversial new security law moves closer to effect – – as French police are criticised for forcibly removing migrants from a Paris square.
The lower house of Parliament in France has voted to approve a contrversial security law that’s sparked protests across the country.
The government wants to stop images of police from being published to protect them from potential harm.
Critics say if approved, the law would impinge on freedom of information and media rights.
