On the eve of the millennium, Oscar-winning screenwriter and author of ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ Frederic Raphael embarks on four remarkable pilgrimages, seeking to answer the fundamental questions concerning God, religion, dogma and the modern world.

In this episode, Frederic travels across America meeting Christians who devote their lives to god. From ‘America’s Hometown’ to the Bible Belt, the film seeks out Americans’ varying and more extreme relationships to God, from Jehovah’s Witnesses to Televangelists to Neopaganists.
