In northern Ethiopia, after nearly three weeks of fighting, a deadline imposed by the government for Tigrayan forces to surrender is set to expire in just a matter of hours.
The federal army has surrounded Tigray’s capital Mekelle and is threatening the use of artillery on the city of 500,000 people.
Tigrayan leaders deny claims their fighters have begun surrendering.
