Fire and rescue services are responding to “multiple casualties” after a large explosion in a chemical tank in Avonmouth.
Crews from six different rescue teams responded to the incident, which occurred at 11.22am, near Bristol.
A major incident has been declared by police.
The explosion is believed to have involved one of the chemical tanks at Wessex Water’s Bristol water recycling centre.
A rescue operation has been subsequently led by the fire service, involving five appliances and two turntable crews.
