A Look Back At One Year Of COVID-19: Is The End In Sight?

It started with a few deaths in China back in December last year. But within a very short span of time, the COVID-19 pandemic set off a global transmission chain. It has since spread across 218 countries around the world. More than 1.8 million have died from the disease and at least 85 million have been infected. The pandemic has also thrown the world in a vortex of fear and sent financial markets and global economies into a tailspin. One year on, is the world better off today than it was a year ago? Is the spread of the virus diminishing? And with vaccines now being rolled out, are we close to seeing the end of the pandemic?
