The director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, on Monday congratulated president-elect Joe Biden on his victory in the U.S. election, adding that he is looking forward to working “very closely” with the new administration.

“We need to re-imagine leadership, build on mutual trust and mutual accountability to end the pandemic and address the fundamental inequalities that lie at the root of so many of the world’s problems,” he said.
President Donald Trump has accused the WHO of being “China-centric” in its handling of the pandemic, a charge which Tedros has repeatedly denied.

Trump has also reversed U.S. funding to the organization. However, Biden has said he would reverse that decision on his first day in office
