US could approve Moderna vaccine as early as Friday

Published on December 17, 2020 by

Operation Warp Speed officials are hoping another vaccine authorisation will help meet their goal of getting 20 million people vaccinated by the end of the year.

An expert panel will gather on Thursday and vote on whether to recommend Moderna’s vaccine candidate.

The Food and Drug Administration will then decide whether to grant emergency use authorisation as early as Friday.

Hospitals are already preparing for the possible delivery of the Moderna vaccine as early as next week.

More than 3,000 distribution sites will receive Moderna’s vaccine if it is authorised.
