Italy will enforce tougher coronavirus restrictions after recording its highest number of deaths since the pandemic began.
The country recorded a high of 993 deaths overnight, taking the country’s death toll to over 50,000.
Between December 21 and January 6, Italians will not be permitted to travel locally during the festive season.
